Schooner Freedom

Today was a field trip day. We went to sail on the Schooner Freedom on this perfect day. It was some history, sailing knowledge and one heck great of a ride. The crew was attired in 1812 style navy uniforms. The weather was wonderful, about 80 degrees with about 15 knot winds. If any of you ever visit St. Augustine Florida consider taking one of the many sailing tours the city has to offer. I could not think of a better way of spending the day.

The adventure begins.

St. Augustine's finest.

The rear of the marina office.

The midshipman.
Don't Tread On Me.

Old Glory always looking wonderful.
The Great Cross in St. Augustine.

  1. Looks like y'all had fun! :-) Sailing off Jax and St. Augustine is a blast, you normally get decent winds and the wave action is not too bad.

  2. Easy to see that was a Beautiful day. Thanks for the tip.

  3. I'm shocked and stunned. Why haven't the legions from the ACLU swooped down and made them take that cross away? Why, even small children might see it.

Of course, we have another big problem with that city name. Saint Augustine!! Wasn't he even a - shudder - Catholic? They should change the name to something like Edwardsville (after that famous governor the people kept re-electing).

Wait a minute - there's a church there, too. It just may be too late to save the place.

  4. Beautiful! Is St Augustine on the Atlantic side of Florida or the B.P. 10W40 side?

  5. You lucky dog! What a great time you must have had!

Great pics! Enjoyed viewing them. Would have enjoyed it more if I was actually there with a case of Pabst....

  7. Fantastic pics!! What a great opportunity!
