Joseph Martin Luther Gardner Executed

Joseph Martin Luther Gardner was pronounced dead at 6:15 p.m. Friday in the state's death chamber in Columbia. He did not make a final statement, but did mouth the words "Thank you. I'm OK," to a relative who witnessed his death.

Gardner was convicted in the 1992 kidnapping, rape and slaying of 25-year-old Melissa "Missi" McLauchlin.

Police said Gardner and his co-defendants decided to kill a white woman as retribution for slavery. But the victim's family and Gardner's attorneys say they don't think the killing had anything to do with racial revenge.  Source.

Raped and killed as retribution for slavery?

Some how the "Martin Luther" in his middle name does not fit very well with the story of his crimes.

This must have been back before hate crimes.

Sixteen years for waiting for Justice would be an eternity.

Good riddance you piece of shit and burn in hell for eternity.

  2. Just found your blog not too long ago and have been catching up, so I know this is a bit late. I investigated this particular crime and I can tell you it was even more heinous than what the media reported. The national media decided to concentrate on the racial aspect of the case, decrying the alleged potential for riots among "bigoted" whites as a result of this gang rape and murder. As if that would ever happen.

I also attended the execution and found it to be rather anti-climactic. He got put down easy compared to what Missi had to endure.

    Keep up the good work.
