Deep Reading Exercise

In Daniel Henninger’s article The Politics of Can't-Possibly-Do he describes how much has been lost or forgotten in the 7 years since the attack on the World Trade Center.

In a few months we'll arrive at the seventh year after the events of September 11, 2001. All can recall the coming together of the nation in the aftermath, and then how the coming together fell apart.
He also draws a comparison to the fact that as long as we leave the hole in the ground the terrorists win.

It is arguably the greatest political and bureaucratic fiasco in the history of the world. Remember the line about how if we don't rebuild the towers "the terrorists will win"? The terrorists will be dead of old age before this project is finished.

I for one do not want the terrorists to win, but given half the country is insane, it looks like this battle may not be winnable.

  2. People are just too self-centered to remember what is important for society.

Btw., I like this layout. :)

  3. Admiral,

You are dead on that nothing is going to happen there in years. Whoever actually owns the land should have put up anything they saw fit. It may be considered sacred, but I'd rather have a JiffyLube with a plaque outside rather than that open pit. At least then there would be a definitive statement of we will rebuild.

Sorry it took me so long to get by

Where are the Photo credits?

I find most the images uncredited on random sites, but I will add credits if someone lets me know who the has the rights to the image.
