After the Samsung Exclaim this Palm Pre does everything, and more. Since I bought this new phone there has been some unexpected things. If you are not careful you may send some blank emails to different people (Sorry Jihad Gene) and I am gizmo impaired.

Florida seeks death penalty for Dontae Morris

I really hate cop killers. They are worse than cowards. They ambush the police officer when they come into contact with them.

Take Dontae Morris for instance. He killed two other people before he killed two Tampa Police officers in June.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Extra security and a group of Tampa Police officers are in the courtroom Thursday morning, as suspected police-killer Dontae Morris, 24, is arraigned on four murder charges.

Morris is accused of killing two Tampa Police officers in June.  He's also charged in the murders of Derek Anderson in May and Harold Wright in June.

Hillsborough County prosecutors will be seeking the death penalty for the murders of the two officers, but will not be seeking death penalty in two other murders Morris is charged with.

An attorney pleaded not guilty to each count on Morris' behalf.

In June, Officer Dave Curtis and Officer Jeff Kocab were shot and killed during a routine traffic stop on East 50th Street in Tampa.  After a four-day manhunt, Morris turned himself in to police on July 2.

What kind of a animal is the perp? He sounds like a real monster.

Morris has spent 20 days in jail.  During that time, Morris "openly masturbated" in front of a female deputy and picked his toenails until they bled, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office. First Coast News

Joseph Daniel Burns Executed

Mississippi serves justice.

Mississippi on Wednesday executed Joseph Daniel Burns for the 1994 stabbing death of a Tupelo motel clerk.

The 42-year-old was given a lethal injection Wednesday evening at the State Penitentiary at Parchman. Burns was pronounced dead at 6:50 p.m. It was Mississippi's third execution this year.

Burns was convicted of murder in 1996 and was sentenced to death for the slaying of Floyd Melvin McBride at the Town House Motel. Prosecutors said Burns stabbed McBride while an accomplice opened the motel safe, then the two men fled with money from the safe.

Burns, clad in a red prison jumpsuit and white sneakers, apologized to McBride's sister and nephew, asking them to forgive him "for this evil and pain I brought on you."

Strapped to a gurney with IV tubes in his arms, he recited the 23rd Psalm. After the final line -- "And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" -- he added, "You can believe that because that's where I'm going."

"All right, devil, let's do your work. That's it," he said as corrections officials cut off the microphone.

After a short time he closed his eyes and was still.

His mother and a sister were on hand as witnesses. No member of Burns' family came to the media center to speak after the execution. His body was turned over to a Tupelo funeral home.

Gordon said it was only through those prayers that the McBride family could forgive Burns for what he did.

"It is only through God's love, mercy and grace that we were able to forgive and pray" for Burns, Gordon said.

"Today, justice was served for that senseless act," he said.

Earlier Wednesday, Republican Gov. Haley Barbour denied Burns' request for clemency.

"I will not substitute my judgment for that of the courts, which have considered the matter," Barbour said.

Mississippi allows the death penalty in cases where a person is convicted of murder along with another felony, such as robbery.

Burns had been scheduled to die at 6 p.m., but the U.S. Supreme Court asked the state Wednesday afternoon to delay the execution while justices reviewed issues raised by Burns' attorneys, including whether Burns was denied a mental evaluation. State officials agreed to the delay.

Less than a half hour after the originally scheduled time, the stay was denied. Soon after the denial was announced, witnesses were escorted to the execution site.

Burns had spent Wednesday in a cell near the death chamber. He visited with his mother, three sisters and two daughters.

Burns did not initially request a last meal, but later changed his mind. Corrections Commissioner Chris Epps said Burns had roast beef and turkey sandwiches and a soft drink. Epps said Burns declined a sedative.

Burns' lawyers claimed in the petition to the U.S. Supreme Court that Mississippi judges should have allowed the inmate's expert to conduct a psychological evaluation that could have been used for clemency or appeals. Prison officials won't allow defense experts to have access to death row prisoners without a judge's order, the petition said.

"When Burns was denied access, he was denied his fundamental constitutional rights," the lawyers argued.

Burns' lawyers also claimed his attorney did not properly prepare for the sentencing phase of his trial. The Mississippi Supreme Court rejected a similar argument.

Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood said in papers filed with the high court that Burns had plenty of time to file an appeal with the nation's highest court.

"By waiting until the last minute to file these actions no other conclusion can be reached other than petitioner is attempting by any means to delay his execution with the tardiness of his filings," Hood wrote.

Derrick Jackson Executed

It seems they are always unfairly convicted after the murder and mayhem they inflict on innocent people just living their lives. I have no pity for this turd and his unfair conviction.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Texas has executed a man convicted of killing two Houston opera singers nearly 22 years ago.

Forty-two-year-old Derrick Jackson declined to make a final statement before the lethal injection was administered Tuesday. He was the 15th person to be executed in Texas this year.

Jackson contended he was unfairly convicted of the September 1988 fatal beatings and slashings of Forrest Henderson and Richard Wrotenbery. The two 31-year-old men were in the Houston Grand Opera chorus. Chron.com

William Garner Executed

Ohio serves justice.

LUCASVILLE, Ohio —  William Garner glanced over at his niece, a soft smile breaking his face as the first of the five syringes of a lethal drug were pumped into his arm at 10:21 a.m. Tuesday in the Death House at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility.

Garner, 37, who grew up with the name “Peewee,” was the 382nd person to be executed in Ohio since the state began executions in 1803.

The state has an execution scheduled each month through November.

Garner has spent nearly half his life on death row after killing five children in an English Woods townhouse on Jan. 26, 1992, when he set three fires to cover up a burglary.

Garner was not pronounced dead until 10:38 a.m., 10 minutes after the curtain closed - generally a sign that the inmate has died.       Cincinnati.com

It is a day when we celebrate Independence. 

We should remember those who are fighting, have fought and given their very lives for our freedoms. Freedoms so many take completely for granted. We should remember the founding documents that ensure freedom. We must guard against any who would change it or otherwise try to subvert it.

It my opinion that the socialist regime in the white house is attempting to subvert and destroy these founding documents that most of us hold so dear.

Vote them all out in November because we are losing more economic and social freedoms everyday under the regime that is in power during this term.

Michael James Perry Executed

Texas serves justice yet again.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Convicted killer Michael James Perry was executed Thursday evening for gunning down a nurse at her suburban Houston home nine years ago and stealing her car.

Perry, 28, mouthed to relatives and friends watching through a window that he loved them.

"I want to start off to everyone involved in this atrocity, they're all forgiven by me," he said in a brief statement from the death chamber gurney.

He lifted his head from the pillow and his voice cracking, cried out: "Mom, I love you."

"I'm coming home Dad. I'm coming home," he added. His father died last month.

He never acknowledged relatives of his victim who looked through an adjacent window.

As the drugs took effect, his eyes fluttered and he hiccupped four times. A single tear ran down his right cheek, prompting quiet sobs from his mother and an aunt and friends. The victim's relatives gasped and motioned to each other.

Nine minutes later, at 6:17 p.m., he was pronounced dead, making him the 14th prisoner executed this year in Texas, the nation's most active death penalty state.   USAToday
