Tropical Storm Fay Refugee

Today while I was out watching the tropical storm a dragonfly flew into the garage. I did not know where it went and I figured after 7 hours in a tropical storm it was nearly dead. A little later I am helping with dinner when my Wife noticed something on my shoulder. It was that exhausted dragonfly. We scared it off my shoulder and it flew to the ceiling and landed there. It is very pretty and I have never seen one with amber colored wings.

Just Wonderful, Fay is going to blow through town.

 How much more of this excitement can I take?  Not much.  Fay did the "unusual" today, she strengthened over the warm, soupy, moist, leech, mosquito and alligator infested swamps of southern Florida.

If I were a hardy adventurer I would be loving this. As a parent, home owner, human being I am not quite sure what to expect.

Supposedly La Casa Del JAXX could withstand a category one hurricane, when it was built. If  age has done to my domicile what it has done to me, I have the stinking suspicion that it will not turn out good. Other than that everything is on course and ready.

The long and short of it is, Fay is being a real Bitch.  If the track holds true then we are in for "The Shit."

I live right under the 3rd H on the predicted track.

Torpical Storm Fay

I really hate blogging about hurricanes and tropical storms.  I really need to let more talented and entertaining bloggers do this like, Upset Waitress.


Tropical Storm Fay is on the way and since it does not seem to be a very big storm we are preparing.

I remember what Hurricane Frances did (Tropical Storm). I also remember Frances was a favorite girls name until 2004. It was then my realization of a home owner came true. I was (back then) a gambling man of sorts, I figured we had one tree in our yard and the chances of it hitting out humble home were less than 25%. I looked up at the Lone Pine and figured it looked healthy enough. As Frances approached I did all the right things. I put everything that could possibly blow around in the garage. Then we waited.

It was mostly a rain and wind event until 5:15PM. That is when the lone pine decided to say "Hello House!" I was in the living room watch the weather guys talk about what damage was being wrought on the city. My wife was in the Den writing and my daughter was sitting on the fireplace listening to the rain and wind sounds piping in through the fire place. While taking in the weather news on the TV I heard this terrible and loud snap. I looked at the lone pine and it was still up but one third up from the ground the tree had this brownish fuzzy ring around it. I charged into the den strongly suggesting to my Wife that she should "take a look at the lone pine!" Then hearing a terrible crash much louder than thunder we knew the tree had hit the house.

 

We had just managed with some good luck and 3400 dollars to get the old lone pine off our house and the roof repaired just before Jeanne dropped by to dump more wind and rain on us. We did not lose power with Frances but lost power for four days with Jeanne.

Sadly I had a bad back up disk and lost all the other pictures I had of the tree being removed.

This is the exciting time of year, and yes, this is also one with a female name.

Police Search For Man Accused Of Cutting Out DJ's Eyes

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville police are trying to find a man who they said attacked a disc jockey after an altercation at a bar and cut the man's eyes out.

Investigators said the DJ was attacked in the early-morning hours of July 5 near Starlite Café. Rescuers. Police found him in the neighborhood because someone driving by saw him lying in the street. They said right away they realized something was very wrong with man's eyes.

"(It's) heartbreaking to think something like that would happen here," said one of the DJ's co-workers, Kir Kay.

According to a police report, the DJ had life-threatening injuries and both of his eyes were protruding from his face.

Friends of the victim told Channel 4 the man who loved playing music in the bar now has to rely on his hearing because the attack left him blind.

"I cannot image what would drive somebody to do that," Kay said.

Michael Anthony Rodriguez Executed

If you go to Texas and kill it's citizens you should be prepared to be executed for it.

"Texas Seven" member Michael Anthony Rodriguez executed.

Before escaping from a South Texas prison with six other convicts, Mr. Rodriguez had been serving a life sentence for paying a hit man $2,000 to kill his wife in 1992. He lured her to her death, prosecutors said, by holding her hand minutes before the triggerman shot her in front of him.

On Christmas Eve 2000, about a week after overpowering workers at the maximum-security prison, the Texas Seven had made there way to Irving.

Officer Aubrey Hawkins had interrupted a holiday dinner with family to respond to a robbery at a sporting goods store. The escapees perforated his squad car with at least 20 bullets. Mr. Rodriguez then pulled the 29-year-old husband and father from the car and stole his gun.

Police: Man Admits To Strangling Puppy To Death

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man who admitted to police that he strangled and killed a puppy he had been asked to watch for the night was recently arrested.

Investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Jacob Lee strangled a dog to death because it had an accident in the house.

"The suspect lost it. He grabbed the dog and squeezed the life out of it -- literally," said JSO spokesman Ken Jefferson.

The story continues:

According to a police report, Lee admitted "the dog p***** on my bed," and then he went "ballistic … killed the dog … snapped its neck."

Police said Lee admitted he messed up and that he killed the dog in anger. They said he did so by squeezing its body.

"He literally just crushed the life out of the little puppy," Jefferson said.

Investigators said the dead puppy was discarded like trash. They said Lee put the puppy in a plastic bag, and then left it behind his house.

A cheap assed analog to digital converter box. I have been putting it of for a while now. Since we have neither cable or satellite due to pricing concerns I went on over to Wal-Mart and picked up the $49.99 version.

I have heard that there were more channels and the picture (on a good day) was absolutely great.

I decided that it was now time to get one in time for the Jags preseason opener. It was about three minutes to install everything and may two minutes to run the setup on the converter box. Then: whammo, digitally clear television.

Heliberto Chi Executed

Justice was Served.

Chi, 29, was pronounced dead at 6:25 p.m. while the two sons of his victim witnessed the lethal injection in a tiny room adjacent to the death chamber in Huntsville’s Walls Prison Unit.

Some background on this murderer:

Chi had visited the suburban Dallas store in 2001, then returned after closing and was let in by Paliotta after saying he'd left his wallet behind. Once inside, he pulled out a gun and demanded a money bag.

Paliotta was shot and killed. Another employee was wounded trying to run away and a third hid among clothing racks and called 911 for help. On a recording of the call played at his trial, Chi can be heard calling the hiding employee, in Spanish, to "Come to the front" of the store.

With police on the way, he fled a few minutes later, jumped into a waiting car and sped off.

He was arrested in Reseda, Calif., northwest of Los Angeles, about six weeks later. His 18-year-old pregnant girlfriend had turned him for assaulting her and told authorities he was wanted for murder in Texas. The couple had been on the run, crisscrossing the country.

Terry O'Rourke, a lawyer on Chi's legal team who teaches international law at Houston's University of St. Thomas, said Chi's guilt wasn't the issue.

"Chi is a murderer, Medellin is a murderer," O'Rourke said. "But we don't kill all murderers. We don't execute all murderers. We do it according to the law.

"When your state violates international law to kill somebody, it has very negative consequences."

Terry O'Rourke is so worried about international law and the silly thing is, that international law does not apply in the United States of America unless some murderer loving lawyer keeps appealing.

The story continues:

Chi would say little about the crime in an interview with The Associated Press shortly before his then-scheduled execution last year.

"My situation is not about being innocent or guilty," he said. "My rights were violated."

"If it's the Lord's will" and he was executed, Chi said he had "great peace in my mind and soul."

Jose Ernesto Medellin Executed

Another monster delivered to the gates hell.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (CNN/KXAN) -- Jose Ernesto Medellin has been executed by lethal injection, according to Texas prison officials. Corrections spokeswoman Michelle Lyons said Medellin died at 9:57 CT.

Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokeswoman Michelle Lyons said about 9:15 p.m. that the court had turned down the appeal of Jose Ernesto Medellin. At 9:48 p.m. Governor Perry released a statement, "After reviewing all of the facts in what is the most gruesome death penalty case I have reviewed since being in office, I have decided not to grant Jose Medellin a 30-day reprieve."  Source: KXAN

The Governor releases a statement and nine minutes later Jose is hell bound on the execution express. Good riddance.

In another more disappointing side of this story it seems that Justice John Paul Stevens is more worried about international law than the law of the United States and the state laws of Texas.

The four dissenting justices yesterday -- John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, David Souter and Stephen Breyer -- all said they would have sought input from the Bush administration before letting Texas proceed with the execution. Breyer wrote that Medellin's execution ``will place this nation in violation of international law.''

Stevens was part of the 6-3 majority when the court ruled in March. He said yesterday he voted to delay the execution because ``it appears that Texas has not taken action to address the serious national security and foreign policy implications'' of the case.  Source: Bloomberg

 John Paul Stevens is another reason why Liberty and Freedom are at risk when Liberals are put on the SCOTUS. Stevens is more interested in international law rather than the rights of a state to handle it's own governmental affairs.

The next bit of Justice to be Served will be when Peter Anthony Cantu is Executed. We can only hope it will not take years to execute this monster.

One of Jose Ernesto Medellin's last full days on earth

How many stories of the illegal alien scourge must we read before we fully understand what they bring to our society? Below is a case in point.

Jose Ernesto Medellin is a real piece of work. He is what the typical illegal alien is. He cared nothing about laws or respect for other citizens. What was he doing in this Country where everyone has a chance of bettering themselves? He was participating in a gang initiation. Gee, what career fast track did old Jose Ernesto have in mind? It sounds like he was aiming at a decent law abiding citizen; NOT!

So; after kicking the hell out of the "initiate" they were looking for more mayhem to create. If the story could turn out more tragic than this; it did.

While Jenny and Elizabeth were living the last few hours of their lives,  Peter Cantu,  Efrain Perez, Derrick Sean O'Brien,  Joe Medellin and Joe's 14 year old brother were initiating a new member,  Raul Villareal, into their gang, known as the Black and Whites. Raul was an acquaintance of Efrain and was not known to the other gang members. They had spent the evening drinking beer and then "jumping in" Raul. This means that the new member was required to fight every member of the gang until he passed out and then he would be accepted as a member. Testimony showed that Raul lasted through three of the members before briefly losing consciousness.



The gang continued drinking and 'shooting the breeze' for some time and then decided to leave. Two brothers who had been with them but testified that they were not in the gang left first and passed Jenny and Elizabeth, who were unknowingly walking towards their deaths. When Peter Cantu saw Jenny and Elizabeth, he thought it was a man and a woman and told the other gang members that he wanted to jump him and beat him up. He was frustrated that he had been the one who was unable to fight Raul.



The gang members ran and grabbed Elizabeth and pulled her down the incline, off of the tracks. Testimony showed that Jenny had gotten free and could have run away but returned to Elizabeth when she cried out for Jenny to help her.



For the next hour or so, these beautiful, innocent young girls were subjected to the most brutal gang rapes that most of the investigating officers had ever encountered. The confessions of the gang members that were used at trial indicated that there was never less than 2 men on each of the girls at any one time and that the girls were repeatedly raped orally, anally and vaginally for the entire hour. One of the gang members later said during the brag session that by the time he got to one of the girls, "she was loose and sloppy." One of the boys boasted of having 'virgin blood' on him.



The 14-year-old juvenile later testified that he had gone back and forth between his brother and Peter Cantu since they were the only ones there that he really knew and kept urging them to leave. He said he was told repeatedly by Peter Cantu to "get some".  He raped Jennifer and was later sentenced to 40 years for aggravated sexual assault, which was the maximum sentence for a juvenile.



When the rapes finally ended, the horror was not over. The gang members took Jenny and Elizabeth from the clearing into a wooded area, leaving the juvenile behind, saying he was "too little to watch".  Jenny was strangled with the belt of Sean O'Brien, with two murderers pulling, one on each side, until the belt broke. Part of the belt was left at the murder scene, the rest was found in O'Brien's home. After the belt broke, the killers used her own shoelaces to finish their job. Medellin later complained that "the bitch wouldn't die" and that it would have been "easier with a gun". Elizabeth was also strangled with her shoelaces, after crying and begging the gang members not to kill them; bargaining, offering to give them her phone number so they could get together again.



The medical examiner testified that Elizabeth's two front teeth were knocked out of her brutalized mouth before she died and that two of Jennifer's ribs were broken after she had died. Testimony showed that the girls' bodies were kicked and their necks were stomped on after the strangulations in order to "make sure that they were really dead."

After reading that quote above, do you really think this animal deserves any stoppage in his execution? If you do, then you are a thoughtless pig.
