ORLANDO, Fla. -- A jury on Wednesday convicted the son of U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson on charges of battery on a police officer and resisting arrest stemming from an incident that occurred after a re-election party in November.Charles William Nelson, 31, faces a maximum penalty of six years in prison but could also get no jail time. Sentencing was scheduled for July 31 by Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland. "While we are disappointed with the verdict, we respect our system of justice," said Sen. Nelson and his wife, Grace, in a statement issued in Washington. "And we love our son and support him during this difficult time in his life."

Jurors deliberated just a few hours Wednesday before returning the verdict. A misdemeanor charge of public intoxication was thrown out by Strickland, who said no evidence was introduced to support it. (Source.)

Truitt, 18, of Solon, Iowa, told police she hid her pregnancy from her parents and boyfriend. They were all staying at the Wyndham Resort in Pompano Beach when authorities found a bloody knife in the hallway and the newborns body in a trash bin June 2, said Broward County sheriff's officials.

At least someone found the bloody knife and did something about it or who would have ever known. Infanticide is the worst evil imaginable. I wonder how her parents feel.

Editorial: House Of Horrors?

Where else do you house monsters? House of Horrors sounds like a great place to me. These monsters who demonstrate at every turn they cannot be allowed in a lawful decent society. Try the House of Horrors. I simply do not want to hear about the monsters being victims. The monsters are there because a jury of their peers found them guilty; guilty enough to be executed. I do not care about their backgrounds or what ever has happened to them from other monsters. They had a choice, and they chose to be monsters. Why did they not find God before sitting on death row? Once on death row you have time to think about the monstrous carnage that you have wrought.

House of Horrors

Stanford psychology professor Philip Zimbardo,who conducted the experiment remarks, "Prisons are failed social-political experiments" that consistently bring out the worst in relations between people "because the public is indifferent to what takes place in secret there, and politicians use them, fill them up as much as they can, to demonstrate only that they are tough on crime. They are as bad for the guards as the prisoners in terms of their destructive impact on self-esteem, sense of justice and human compassion."

In response to professor Zimbardo; When showing compassion to a monster, the monster sees only weakness and then you have a very good chance of becoming a victim.

In closing I feel that the appeals process and how long it takes prevents the survivors of the victim speedy justice. You leave a monster in a house of horrors and after some time most of the monsters will say that they have in fact, found God (like He was lost), Allah or whomever. The average time is at least 10 years to wait while appeals process continue and run their course. That is plenty of time to collect pen pals (90% of whom would become cadavers in a morgue somewhere if left alone with the so called "pen pal"). The monsters also stroke the anti-capital punishment crowd who it seems care more for the monsters than the victims or their survivors. The anti-capital punishment crowd says "all death is wrong" and they speak on behalf of some monster who has caused death. This silly judgment makes little sense to me.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville police have arrested a 17-year-old they said they considered armed and dangerous.Police took Freddie Wade into custody on Wednesday.Authorities said Wade shot and killed 17-year-old Corey Wilder after an argument last week in the 5200 block of Washington Estates Drive in Northwest Jacksonville.Police said that during a confrontation, Wade displayed a handgun and Wilder to attempted to run away. As Wilder was running, Wade shot him in the back multiple times and then fled the scene in a vehicle that was later recovered, according to authorities.Wade has been arrested previously on multiple felony charges, including armed burglary (Source).

• Convicted in the August 1991 abduction murders of Walter and Mary Werner of Amarillo. Knight was a neighbor of the Werners, and according to relatives, had been harassing them. On the day of the crime, Knight and accomplice Robert Timothy Bradfield broke into the Werners home and waited for them to return. They held the couple captive for several hours in their home before driving them to an isolated location and shotting them to death. Their bodies were found in a ditch along Masterson Road.
  

Jimmy Dale Bland - Oklahoma

• Bland is to be executed June 26 for the Nov. 14, 1996, murder of 62-year-old Doyle Windle Rains 11 years ago.

John Hightower - Georgia

• Hightower, convicted in 1988 in Baldwin County for murdering his wife and two stepdaughters, is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection at 8 p.m. tonight.

Who is going to pay for the 380 murderers on Death Row?

These guys are insane and only care about the murderers.

What about the Victims?

It is very easy for FADP to worry about the poor murderer who has just had his death warrant signed. How do they plan on paying for the murdering bastard and his time in a maximum security facility? Convicted inmates are leeches and a huge drain on money that the state should spend elsewhere (anywhere else)? Hurricane relief would be nice. Murderers had a choice and they blew it. I do not want to pay for it. I have no choice in it. Money in the form of taxes go to keep the convicted murderer in a place where all his/her needs are provided. They have access to layers and the judicial process. Again; who is paying for the appeals?

The system will go bankrupt unless the FADP and others can stop murder and crime. It is an impossible problem that will not go away. Until then they expect everyone to pay to house these monsters of humanity.

Humane and dignified death.

I still do not understand why this is an issue. These convicts murdered their victims without giving them dignity or being humane about it. Angel Diaz got what he deserved. If he had not killed his victim then he would not have been in the unenviable position of being on that final gurney. I hope he thought about his crime for those 34 minutes.

Enough of this; it is time to get the executions going again, 380 on death row is way too many. Texas is the only state that seems to be keeping up with the executions.

Calvin Shuler is scheduled to be executed in South Carolina on 22 June. He was sentenced to death in 1998 for the murder of James Brooks during an armed robbery in 1997.

On 3 December 1997, three guards in an armoured van were collecting and delivering money to banks in the Low County area near Charleston. When they arrived at the First National Bank of Harleyville, a man wearing army fatigues and a camouflage face mask ordered the two guards out of the driver and passenger seat at gunpoint. After the assailant had climbed into the driver’s seat, he and the remaining guard, James Brooks, who was in the back of the van, exchanged gunfire through the mesh that separated the cab and the rear of the vehicle. The attacker threw a handgun out of the van window before driving off at speed. The van was found, with James Brooks dead in it and $1,555,400 in cash still in the vehicle. A search revealed an assault rifle, a box of ammunition and a bloody ski mask hanging on a tree. The handgun thrown from the vehicle was also recovered, and traced to Calvin Shuler’s late mother. The rifle, meanwhile, was traced to Demond Jones, the fiancé of Shuler’s cousin. Jones had purchased the weapon at Shuler’s request.

Calvin Shuler subsequently confessed to the crime. In November 1998, a jury found him guilty of murder, armed robbery and kidnapping and voted for a death sentence.

According to News4Jax The Weather Authority it was 98 yesterday afternoon. My Wife and I have always wondered how hardy the people who lived here in the 1920s were. I understand from the almanac that the temperatures are about the same as now. If this were the 1920s I would have most likey died when I was six due to numerous ear infections thus saving me from the heat in the 1920s.
