For Halloween you are

You are The Hermit

Prudence, Caution, Deliberation.

The Hermit points to all things hidden, such as knowledge and inspiration, hidden enemies. The illumination is from within, and retirement from participation in current events.

The Hermit is a card of introspection, analysis and, well, virginity. You do not desire to socialize; the card indicates, instead, a desire for peace and solitude. You prefer to take the time to think, organize, ruminate, take stock. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent but these feelings eventually lead to enlightenment, illumination, clarity.

The Hermit represents a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist. This a person who can shine a light on things that were previously mysterious and confusing.

Why I could not be a Statesman

This is why I could not be a Statesman; Wishing Ted Kennedy well.

Kennedy says President Bush called to wish him well, and they "talked a little shop" about the No Child Left Behind law, which faces a tough renewal fight in Congress. [Source]

"His diet is very, very good," Ronan said, and the senator swims daily for exercise.

I really hate to insult the Manatee

We have had quite a few Nor'easters this year. Lots of rain, wind and gray days. It usually spells DooM to the somewhat sparse foliage we have down here ready to turn with the colors of fall.

For those people with beach front properties it makes the beach disappear and if you have some additional misfortune; your house too. [Story] about beach front property.

Going Green is even a issue in death

I guess I have never contemplated death. I have not even really discussed what to do with what remains. I guess it is long over due.

Now for some thing completely different; Green Funerals.

Peter Neal, a funeral director based in Guilford and spokesman for the Maine Funeral Directors Association, said the trend sounds good on the surface, but presents problems when you dig into the details.

"The green concept is a wonderful concept. There are many areas of our lives that we can" reduce environmental impacts, Neal said. "But this one's a little bit more of a problem."

In Maine, for example, the ground can freeze in winter and make it harder to dig graves. Funeral homes typically store bodies for spring burials, something made easier with formaldehyde and the embalming process.

I guess up north if you kick off in November you might not miss Thanksgiving, Christmas or the New Years Day celebration after all. You might not be a big part of it but you may still be there in body and maybe in spirit.

Of all the minor miseries I have had.

Aprilwine wanted to know what was wrong with my feet, it is a minor thing that has to do with age/lifestyle.

Plantar fasciitis

This has to be the most bothersome minor misery I have ever had. It just keeps hanging on. You let your guard down and it is back. So I just have to watch it closely. It also figures it would happen just as it is starting to cool off down here.

Driving in Jacksonville Florida

I have lived in Jacksonville Florida for the last 6 years and these are a few of the observations I have made
  • When someone is blabbing on their cell phone the turn signals do not operate.
  • If some SUV narrowly misses running you off the road while driving like an ass it will be an anemic looking broad about 25 years old with a cell phone in one hand and a cigarette / coffee mug in the other.
  • Dump trucks do not have to yield right of way or stop at red lights.
  • If someone is stopped while the light is green it is more than likely some old fart adjusting the seat or the sun visor. He/she will proceed (quickly) when the light turns red.
  • When Making eye contact with another driver wear mirror style sunglasses.
  • Never get behind a Duval County School Bus.
  • Expect any little fender bender to be gawked at by everyone to see if it was "Somebody I Knew".
  • It seems absolutely proper the throw cigarette butts out the window at stoplights.
  • It seems absolutely proper the dump the ashtray out on the ground at Wal-Mart Super Centers.
  • It seems the normal thing to do is blow your horn after .00025 seconds of a light turning green.

Florida Democrat Senator Bill Nelson

Senator Bill Nelson D - FL was one who signed the infamous Rush Limbaugh smear letter. Bill Nelson is just as worthless as the rest of the slime that signed that letter

Bill Nelson is a plague upon Florida and you can't get rid of him.

Care worker accused in broomstick attack

This is one of those stories that make you wonder.

  • The Clay County Sheriff's Office arrested a one-time child care worker this week on charges he used a broomstick to hit a 13-year-old boy's head at a group home for disabled adolescents.
  • The State Attorney's Office, meanwhile, is investigating whether to charge another worker who waited more than nine hours to report the incident.
  • Dontah Jordan, 20, of Orange Park, was charged with felony child abuse. He remained in jail Thursday in lieu of $100,000 bail.
  • Jordan was employed by May South, a nonprofit organization that works with people who have autism and other developmental disabilities.
  • A co-worker told police that about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 24, he heard the boy scream and went into the kitchen, where he said he saw Jordan repeatedly hit the boy on top of the head, according to a Sheriff's Office report.
  • The co-worker, Troy Jackson, did not report the incident to a supervisor until 8 the following morning. The Sheriff's Office responded at 10 a.m. to a report of child abuse, according to records.
  • The teenager was treated and released at Wolfson Children's Hospital.

How not to spend your day

This story makes me wonder . . .

LAKELAND, Fla. - A 70-year-old man has been charged with grand theft after police watched him siphon off more than 900 gallons of gasoline from underground storage tanks at two gas stations, the Polk County authorities said Wednesday.

Deputies witnessed Hobert Gibson steal gasoline from two stations Tuesday, but sheriff officials believe he did this on a daily basis since at least January. The two gas stations he hit that day were about 40 miles from his Winter Haven home, and police believe it was typical for Gibson to visit a few stations per day across a wide geographical area. He is believed to have sold the stolen gasoline, which he stored at his towing company.

Gibson outfitted a stolen box trailer with tanks able to hold 3,250 gallons and with a trap door underneath, police said. He would pull over near the underground storage tank at a gas station, pop the trailer's hood and pretend to fix a problem, as the trap door obscured the view of gas being pumped into the tanks.

Just Fred

A cop stops a car for traveling faster than the posted
speed limit. He asks the man his name.

"Fred," he replies.

"Fred what?" the officer asks.

"Just Fred," the man responds.

The officer is in a good mood, doesn't smell alcohol,
and thinks he might just give the fellow a break and
write him out a warning instead of a ticket. So the
officer then presses him for the last name. The man
tells him that he used to have a last name but lost it.
The officer thinks that he has a nut case on his hands
but plays along with it.

"Tell me, Fred, how did you lose your last name?"

The man replies, "It's a long story, so stay with me."

"I was born Fred Dingaling. I know -- a funny last name.
The kids used to tease me all the time. So I stayed to
myself, studied hard, and got good grades. When I got
older I realized that I wanted to be a doctor. I went
through college, medical school, internship, residency,
and finally got my degree, so I was Fred Dingaling, MD.

"After a while I got bored being a doctor, so I decided
to go back to school. Dentistry was my dream! Got all the
way through school, got my degree, so then I was Fred
Dingaling, MD, DDS.

"Got bored doing dentistry, so I started fooling around
with my assistant and she gave me VD. So now I was Fred
Dingaling, MD, DDS, with VD. Well, the ADA found out about
the VD, so they took away my DDS. Then I was Fred Dingaling,
MD with VD. Then the AMA found out about the ADA taking away
my DDS because of the VD, so they took away my MD leaving
me as Fred Dingaling with VD. Then the VD took away my
Dingaling, so now I'm just Fred."

The officer walked away in tears, laughing.

12 bags of dope and 115 dollars.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A 17-year-old is in jail after police said they caught him with bags of marijuana at First Coast High School.

Police said they received a tip that Alton McGriff was selling marijuana to students inside the school. Police said that when officers called him to the office to question him, the evidence literally fell into place.

"As they asked him to stand up so they could frisk him, 12 bags of marijuana fell from his waistband," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Jefferson. "Once they continued to search, they found $115 he had on his person -- clearly out of the ordinary for a high school student carrying $115." [Source]

  • Last time I had $115 on me was never. There was never a time when I was 17 years old I had anymore than 30 bucks.

A Femme Fatale Story

This reads like a great book. Seduction and rising to the top of a male dominated drug trade. Fear the power of the Femme Fatale.
The cross necklace around her neck is a nice touch too.

Police say the raven-haired 46-year-old spent more than a decade working her way to the top echelons of Mexico's male-dominated drug trade, uniting Colombian and Mexican gangs, and seducing several notorious kingpins.
Dubbed the "Queen of the Pacific," she even has her own song — a "narcocorrido" folk ballad about drug traffickers by Los Tucanes de Tijuana that pays homage to her as "a top lady who is a key part of the business." [Source]

In this photo released by Mexico's Federal Secretary of Public Safety, Sandra Avila Beltran, also known as the "Queen of the Pacific," smiles for a police mug shot on the day of her arrest in Mexico City, Sept. 28, 2007. The raven-haired 46-year-old worked her way to the top of Mexico's male-dominated illegal drug industry, prompting U.S. officials to issue a warrant for her arrest. Leave it to the Chinese to figure out a good use criminals

This should be considered for use with American death row inmates. It would give them something to do while wasting time on appeals and the legal process. (I could go on forever with this.)

Most death row murders say they are sorry, Most say they have found God and they are forgiven.

They should prove it by donating organs to those in need and the state could throw in a free lobotomy. We have an ample supply of death row inmates here in Florida.

Chinese doctors agree not to take organs from prisoners

The underground organ trade in China has been a notorious supplier of organs to foreigners desperately in need of transplants, who make up as much as 40 percent of the market. Brokers regularly arrange transplants in weeks rather than the months or years it generally takes in the West. [Source]

Another tale of woe from a pit bull home.

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- A 42-year-old woman was fatally mauled by her two pit bulls, which also attacked the victim's son and a sheriff's deputy before both were shot and killed on Tuesday morning, according to the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Two pit bulls attacked and killed the woman who had raised them from puppies. They attacked her son and lunged at a responding sheriff's deputy before they were shot and killed. [Source.]

The victim raised them from puppies and they did this? Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

This next story is just too weird:
Good news is; They found the perp.
Bad news, it was the pit bull.

The mother told Lockport Police that she left her two year old unattended for a short time and after hearing the baby scream, she ran to see what was wrong.

When she got in the room, she told Lockport Police the dog, named "Bear", had sodomized the toddler. The mother screamed, scaring the dog out of the house, but the dog was still attached to the baby. [Source]

  • For that matter; who would want a pitbull anyway.
